Quake Hazards

Take an inventory of items that are set above eye level. These areas might include bookshelves, refrigerators tops and open shelves. Heavy ceramic sculptures on top of your kitchen cabinets may look aesthetic, but they can also give you a good headache should an earthquake strike. Cabinet doors have also been known to fly open and dump contents. The rumbling and vibrations that rise up from the earth can uproot trees and start mudslides so your shelf items are likely to move too. If you have heavy objects that are above eye level, consider moving them to a lower position where they are less likely to cause physical humans or pets.
