15 Earthquake Survival Tips

No Water

Water lines can break from the pressure of a quake. Turning on the faucet and discovering that there is no water can throw you into a panic. It is not uncommon for pipes to burst during earthquakes and it can take days or weeks to schedule needed repairs. Have at least 3 gallons of water in a closet or garage as part of your earthquake preparedness plan. You can also buy a few cases of bottled water to keep stored in case of emergencies. Listen to your emergency radio for boil advisories that might be issued in your area. Tap water may be unsafe for consumption.
