15 Earthquake Survival Tips

Know What’s Going On

Purchase at least one emergency radio. Emergency radios are powered by batteries or solar power. Some have a crank feature for keeping power flowing. If there is a blackout or fire from earthquakes, electricity will not likely be an option for television news. Some radios have special weather bands for receiving information on the emergency situation around you. Almost all will pick up local am/FM stations so you do not feel so isolated. More expensive models have flash lights, cell phone chargers and strobe lights for attracting attention. If you find yourself buried in rubble, a siren can be sounded to alert rescuers to your whereabouts.
