Family Pow Wow
Have a family earthquake preparedness pow wow. Every family member needs to know what is included in your plan. Everyone may not be at home when earthquakes occur. Make the steps as simple as possible and post the duties that are necessary where everyone knows to look. Tape the instructions under a desk drawer, place another on a garage door and a third one on the inside trunk lid of each vehicle. When panic sets in from the uncertainty of the earth shaking, it can be difficult to remember to shut off the gas, grab the first aid kit and other important steps. A list makes it easy to respond with less emotion.
